What does it really mean to abide in Jesus? In John 15, Jesus reveals that He is the True Vine, the Father is the Gardener, and we are the branches. Join April and John Foster as we explore the beauty of remaining connected to Christ, the purpose of the Father's pruning, and how the Holy Spirit produces lasting fruit in our lives. Are we striving to produce fruit through our own efforts, or are we resting in the One who is our Source of Life?
Jesus invites us into something far greater than religious performance. He calls us His friends, commands us to love one another as He has loved us, and prepares us to stand faithfully in a world that may reject Him. What does it look like to remain in His love when life becomes difficult? Could the pruning you're experiencing actually be preparing you for greater fruitfulness? Join us as we discover that the secret to a fruitful life isn't striving harder. It's ABIDING IN HIM!

What does it really look like to love like Jesus? In John 13, on the night before the cross, Jesus shows His disciples the full measure of His love. He kneels to wash dirty feet, serves the one who will betray Him, warns Peter of his coming denial, and then gives His followers a new commandment: “Love each other just as much as I have loved you.” In this John 13 Bible study, April and John explore the meaning of Jesus washing the disciples’ feet, servant leadership, Judas’ betrayal, Peter’s denial, sandals and inheritance, identity, authority, and what it means to know where you came from and where you’re going. Jesus knew exactly who He was—and that security allowed Him to kneel, serve, and love even when betrayal was sitting at His table. Join us for Episode 99 of Bedroom & Bible as we ask: What would change if we stopped simply talking about the love of Jesus and began loving one another the way He loved us? Subscribe, share this episode, and tell us in the comments: What does the full measure of His love look like in your life?

What are you willing to pour out? And what if the very thing you’re trying to hold onto has to fall to the ground before it can multiply?
In John 12, the road to the cross is getting shorter. Mary breaks open something costly and fills the room with the fragrance of worship. Lazarus—once dead and now sitting at the table with Jesus—has become such a powerful living testimony that the religious leaders want him dead too. Crowds gather. Jesus enters Jerusalem on a donkey as King. And in the middle of it all, He gives His followers a startling picture: “Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it produces much fruit.”
In this episode of Bedroom & Bible, April and John walk through John 12 and wrestle with what it means to follow Jesus when obedience costs us something. What does extravagant worship look like when others don’t understand it? Is your life pointing people toward Jesus the way Lazarus’s life did? What needs to fall to the ground so God can bring forth greater fruit? And will we still follow Jesus when the road leads toward surrender rather than comfort?
This chapter reminds us that Jesus didn’t simply come to make our lives more comfortable—He came to give us life through His own death and to invite us into the beautiful mystery of surrender: the seed falls, the shell breaks, and new life emerges.
So open your Bible to John 12 and join us. Let’s ask the Holy Spirit to show us what we need to pour out, what we need to release, and what it truly means to follow Jesus all the way.

What happens when Jesus stands in front of the thing you have already buried? In John 11, Lazarus has been dead for four days. The stone is in place, the mourners have gathered, and Martha knows Jesus could have changed the story—but now it seems too late. Then Jesus arrives. He doesn’t just speak about resurrection; He reveals Himself as the Resurrection. In this episode of Bedroom & Bible, April and John Foster walk through John 11 and wrestle with the places in our lives, families, marriages, churches, communities, and hearts that may appear dead, buried, or beyond hope. What if Jesus is still saying, “Take away the stone”? What if the thing you’ve buried can still hear His voice?
April and John also introduce a four-day “Lazarus Fast,” remembering the four days Lazarus was in the tomb and setting apart intentional time to seek God, examine their hearts, pray corporately, repent, and believe Him for resurrection life. Together, they take communion and explore connections between John 11, Psalm 91, Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness, spiritual protection, surrender, and the authority of God’s Word. This isn’t about manipulating God into resurrecting what we want; it’s about surrendering enough to ask: Lord, what are You calling out of the tomb? What stone are You asking me to move? What grave clothes need to come off? And do I really believe that You are the Resurrection and the Life?
Jesus stood outside a tomb everyone else believed was final and cried, “Lazarus, come forth!” It’s time to seek Him, pray, repent, and remember the power of the cross and resurrection. Maybe it’s time to stop calling dead what Jesus isn’t finished with yet. Grab your Bible, prepare your heart, take communion with us, and if the Holy Spirit is leading you, join us for the four-day Lazarus Fast as we seek the Father together. The stone is not the end of the story. The tomb is not the end of the story. Death does not get the final word. Jesus does.

What voice are you following? In this early-morning episode of Bedroom & Bible, April and John open John 10 and encounter Jesus as the Good Shepherd, the Gate, and the One whose sheep know His voice. They explore the contrast between the true Shepherd and the thieves, strangers, and hired hands competing for our attention. Jesus doesn’t come to control or destroy—He comes that we may have life abundantly. He knows His sheep, protects them, lays down His life for them, and leads them into freedom.
John 10 is also a wake-up call about spiritual leadership, repentance, discernment, and unity in the Body of Christ. His sheep aren’t called to blindly follow people; we are called to know His voice and follow Him. One flock. One Shepherd. One voice worth following. Maybe the question isn’t simply, Can you hear God? Maybe it’s: Do you know His voice well enough to recognize when another voice is trying to lead you? Open your Bible to John 10 and join us in the Bedroom.

Recorded from their Deck 14 balcony overlooking the Mediterranean, this episode of Bedroom & Bible became unexpectedly personal for April and John. Just days earlier, they were reading John 9 with a lifeboat literally blocking the view from their original cabin when an unexpected phone call changed their room—and their perspective.
But John 9 is about so much more than a blind man receiving his physical sight. His eyes were opened before he fully understood WHO had healed him. He first knew “the man called Jesus,” then recognized Him as a prophet, and eventually encountered Him as Lord: “Lord, I believe.”
Maybe that’s part of the journey for all of us. Sometimes we can’t see what God is doing because something is blocking our view. Sometimes healing happens before understanding. And sometimes Jesus changes our perspective before He changes our circumstances.
Faith doesn’t require an unobstructed view. It requires trusting the One who sees what we cannot.
Join April and John in John 9 as they explore blindness, healing, humility, faith—and what it really means to SEE Jesus.

What if the very places where you feel distracted, exposed, or ashamed are the places Jesus wants to meet you with His presence instead of condemnation? In this vulnerable episode, John and April share honestly about distraction, the struggle to simply rest with God, and a healing dream involving a clawfoot tub that became an invitation to slow down and receive. As they open John 8, they encounter the woman caught in adultery and recognize the tension between accusation and the radical mercy of Jesus: “Neither do I condemn you.”
Together, John and April wrestle with religious pride, spiritual blindness, and the question beneath so much of this chapter: Who gets to tell you who you are?
From Jesus declaring Himself the Light of the World to His breathtaking revelation, “Before Abraham was, I AM,” they discover that true freedom isn't found in striving harder, but in abiding in His Word and learning to remain in His presence. Join John and April in the bedroom with their Bibles open as they explore what it looks like to move from distraction to presence, accusation to grace, and bondage to the freedom only the Great I AM can give.
